Emergency Phone Numbers - City of San Francisco

FIRST:

The first thing to know about making emergency calls in San Francisco is that calls made from a cell phone may not go where you want them to go. If you call from or near a state highway your call may be routed to a central CHP dispatch center miles from San Francisco.

Resolve the problem by putting the SFPD Central Dispatch telephone number directly into your cell phone's memory. The SFPD Dispatch number is: 415-553-8090.

SECOND:

You need to know about San Francisco's 311 Call Center. One call does it all - City services simplified. The service is available 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year.

The City and County of San Francisco established 311 to provide an easy-to-remember telephone number that connects residents, businesses, and visitors to highly-trained Customer Service Representatives ready to help with general government information and services.

Note: 311 is not an emergency number. If you experience an emergency call 911 or call SFPD Dispatch directly at 415-553-8090.

Dial 3-1-1 toll free within San Francisco (for TTY, press 7 after calling)
From outside San Francisco, dial (415) 701-2311 (for TTY, press 7 after calling)
TTY direct line (415) 701-2323
